Frequently Asked Questions

How do I prepare for a telehealth session?

  • First and foremost Clients are required to be physically located in Minnesota. 

  • Choose a space that is free of physical disruptions. 

  • Make the space special, use a comfortable chair, use aroma-therapy, have a glass of water, and/or a comfortable blanket. 

  • Give yourself a few moments before the session starts to get into a therapeutic headspace.

What Can I Expect From the First Few Sessions?

  • Typical sessions last 53 minutes. Depending on insurance, I also offer 45 minute sessions. ​

  • In our first session we will explore why you are seeking therapeutic support as well as your background information. ​

  • In our second and third session, we will work together to develop treatment goals, which we will review quarterly. 

What is your therapeutic style?

I primarily use a person-centered approach, which means our sessions will go where you want or need them to go, we will explore YOUR feelings and thoughts. While exploring your feelings and thoughts will use techniques from other approaches including:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Techniques 

  • Alternative Approaches include Grounding/Earthing and Aroma Therapy

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Techniques

  • Delectable Behavior Therapy (DBT) Techniques​

  • Harm Reduction Approach

  • Logos Therapy Techniques

  • Mindfulness

  • Psychodynamic Techniques​

  • Solution Focused Techniques​


I understand most mental health challenges do not occur in a vacuum which is why I use a feminist and systemic lens that acknowledges the importance of social structures and the interplay between larger systems and the individual.


Payment

  • Currently I accept some major insurance plans (please see the insurance tab for an up to date list).

  • I also accept private pay (cash).​

  • All Clients are required to set up auto payment through the Client portal (you will be emailed this information). If you use insurance you will be billed your co-pay. If you pay privately, you will be billed for the entire session.

Therapy is an investment and it can be an overwhelming process to get started. To help the process go more smoothly, I offer free 15 minute consultations. I will answer any questions you may have to help you assess if we are a good fit. If you find that I am not what you are looking for, I can provide you with recommendations of other therapists.
